The name of our parish recalls the well known apparition of our Blessed Mother on December 12, 1531 in Mexico to Juan Diego. When the Bishop of Mexico City asked for a sign that the apparition was authentic, Juan Diego was told to bring the roses he found blooming in winter. When he opened his tilma to display the flowers, the picture of Our Lady of Guadalupe was on his cloak. This picture of the Virgin Mary can be seen at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
El nombre de nuestra parroquia recuerda la aparición bien conocida de nuestra bienaventurada madre en México, el 12 de diciembre, en 1531, a Juan Diego. Cuando el obispo de la Ciudad de México pidió una prueba que la aparición fue auténtica, Juan Diego fue dirigido por María a llevarle rosas que encontraba floreciendo en el invierno. Cuando abrió su tilma para mostrar las flores, la imagen de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe estaba en su manto. Todavía se puede ver esta imagen en la basilica de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe en la Ciudad de México.
