Our Lady of Guadalupe School
Hello, my name is Mrs. Terry Chaney. I am the fourth grade teacher at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Fourth grade is an exciting year! We are involved in the S.T.E.M. program provided by Monsanto. S.T.E.M. represents: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. For the last month we have been designing a Geo Dome for our investigation of a new planet that was discovered. Our planet's name is METS.
The students had to think of something that would not take up a lot of room on the shuttle and that would shelter the engineers that will be going to METS. We discussed that we need a living quarter, greenhouse, a gym, and a storage facility. We are almost done with our Geo Domes.
News from METS. 4th grade tested the soil around our encampment with our digital 4-way soil meter and found that our soil is moist with a Ph level of 6.5 which means that our acid levels are a little high. Our group of scientist will work with it to find a solution for this. Our goal is to be able to plant on the planet. Right now we are preparing our greenhouse.
Our investigation of the body of water will commence when our prototype vehicle is built. We have a consensus that this body of water will be called The Lady in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
